Adaptive Filters

Adaptive Filters is a Pro indicator group for separating trend, cycle, momentum, and noise. Use it when classic moving averages or oscillators feel too slow or too cluttered.

Where to find it

Open Dashboard → Charts → Indicators → Adaptive Filters. Search by tool name when you already know what you need, or use the group view to compare the localized one-line descriptions.

A practical workflow

  1. Add Super Smoother or Decycler to establish a cleaner trend view.
  2. Add Cycle/Trend State before choosing a follow-up tool. Favor trend tools in a directional state and cycle tools in a repeating state.
  3. Use Cycle Spectrum to identify a prominent period, then inspect that area in Cycle Spectrogram to see whether it is stable, strengthening, or fading.
  4. Add one momentum tool for timing. Remove any filter that repeats the same message as another.

Read the result

  • Shorter settings respond sooner and change more often. Longer settings are steadier but can turn later.
  • Heatmaps need enough chart history to settle. If the longest periods are faint or missing, load more history or reduce the period range.
  • In Cycle Spectrogram, follow the dominant-period line and nearby bright areas. A ridge that persists matters more than a single bright patch.
  • Forward segments from Voss Predictive Filter or Fourier Wave are scenarios. They update as new bars arrive and should be judged against the newest completed data.
  • Historical output on closed bars is not rewritten after the fact, but a forming current bar can still change until it closes.

Adaptive Filters make trend and cycle structure easier to inspect. They do not predict news, gaps, or the next bar's direction.
