Signal & Trade Tester
The Signal & Trade Tester answers one question before you act on a signal: when this setup appeared in the past, what did price typically do next? It replays a signal over historical data and summarizes the forward paths.
Where to find it
Open Signal Tester from the Workspace section of the dashboard sidebar. Scan conditions can also be sent into the tester from the Market Scanner, so a rule you just scanned for can be tested on history without rebuilding it.
Choose a signal
Three source types are supported:
- Conditions — a list of scanner-style conditions (price, indicator, and volume rules).
- Scan recipe — a full saved-scan configuration replayed historically.
- Indicator signals — entries produced by the signal indicator family (TD13, Trend Beacon, and peers).
Astro-event conditions are excluded by design: they cannot be replayed historically with the same data the scanner uses live.
Choose the universe and horizon
Run the test on a single symbol, a preset universe, or one of your watchlists (the universe is capped at 60 symbols per run). Then choose how many bars after each signal to measure.
Read the result
| Output | What it tells you |
|---|---|
| Signal count | How many matching signals (or trades) the history produced |
| Average path | The typical forward path around the signal |
| Statistics at +N bars | Forward outcomes at the horizons you selected |
| Per-symbol results | Which symbols drove the aggregate |
A result built from a handful of signals is context, not evidence. Check the count before the headline numbers.
Save and revisit
Up to 20 test configurations can be saved, renamed, and reloaded. Saved tests store the configuration, not the result — reloading reruns the study on current history.
Use it responsibly
- Decide the rule and horizon first, then run the test — do not tune until the numbers look good and stop there.
- Prefer many occurrences over dramatic few-sample results.
- Historical behavior is description, not prediction; a repeated pattern can stop repeating.
